LORE uses one account system for the website and the game. The game’s account service stores your first and last name, email address, username, recovery questions, and hashed passwords and recovery answers. Passwords and answers are salted and hashed; their original text is not stored.

How your account works

The website sends account actions securely to the account service. It does not maintain a separate user database or store passwords or recovery answers. Your browser keeps a secure, HttpOnly session cookie so you can remain signed in. Session tokens are not placed in browser local storage.

The account service also stores your account role, character data, account-security events, and moderation records, including ban reasons. Authorized staff can review account details and moderation history. Staff cannot view your passwords or recovery answers.

Recovery and security

Your email and recovery answers are used to help recover access to your account. The account service uses your IP address for rate limiting. Password resets end existing sessions. Account and staff pages are served with instructions that browsers and intermediaries must not cache them.

Email verification

When you sign up, the account service emails a verification link to your address from noreply@officiallore.com. You must verify your email before you can play the game. You can ask for a new link from your account page.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account and your data from your account page at any time. Deletion removes your account, characters, sessions, recovery questions, verification and reset links, bans and pending commands at once, and frees your username and character names. Moderation audit records are kept without your account details. A confirmation email is sent to your address. Deletion cannot be undone.

Browsing and hosting

Wiki searches run in your browser. This site does not add advertising trackers or analytics scripts. The website host and network providers may process technical request information needed to deliver and secure the service.

During development

The account service currently runs on the developer’s computer behind a secure tunnel. Account features are available only while that service is running. Account emails, such as verification links, password reset links and deletion confirmations, are sent from noreply@officiallore.com. Contact the game’s developer if you need help accessing or managing your account.
